OK, so when you’ve dreamed of escaping to a tropic isle, this may not be what you envisioned, but it certainly adds a very special something to an isle you already have!  And I definitely wouldn’t call it “wastin’ away” because this little collection is so gorgeous and such fun to use!  I know that I redid half my island in order to accommodate it all, it’s just so special!  Time to belly up to the bar and wait for the green flash… rejuvenate myself for more shopping therapy!!!!

Unless you’re very, very new to Second Life, you probably rent or own a home.  Maybe it’s a small furnished skybox; or maybe, like me, you own land and love having the opportunity to landscape and decorate as the whim takes you.  I’ve actually gone a bit overboard and have two homes — one with my partner on a northwest US-style estate, and one in a tropical mainland “collective” with friends where we all use our premium tiers to create a larger property.  If you have a beach home, or if you just want to decorate a bedroom as if you do, you really don’t need to look any further than this versatile collection.  It includes a whole range of individual pieces with lots of built-in texture choices to either blend in with existing decor, establish something new, or change it up as the mood takes you.  The animated pieces have some brand-new, pretty amazing animations built-in as well.

Mother of Dragons

No, this is not Game of Thrones and I’m no Daenerys of the House Targaryen.  But I do absolutely love the unique, animated fire-breathing dragons that Tylar from Tylar’s Treasures creates and places in creative fantasy builds.  I’ve posted video of them before (in fact, it’s how I learned to even do videos for blogging), and I could not resist doing one for this amazing creation of hers.  The video is up on FlickR; I couldn’t figure out how to put it here.  This fabulous build is featured at the awesome Fantasy Faire, opening later today April 23rd at noon SLT.  Fantasy Faire is an RFL (Relay for Life) Event, which anyone who follows me knows that I’m a huge supporter of, although this is my very first year as an official blogger at the Faire.  Celebrating its 12th year, Fantasy Faire 2020 is the largest gathering of fantasy designers, enthusiasts, role-players and performers in the virtual world.  From its opening today through May 10th, treat yourself to shopping, dance and theater performances, DJ parties, auctions, questing, our Literary Festival, fantasy art, events and role-playing as thousands of Second Life residents and creators bring their own visions together to support the American Cancer Society’s vision of a world without cancer.  That really should be more than just a fantasy, don’t you think?

In addition to the thirteen shopping regions there will also be five Faireland realms that take us beyond commerce, from a Memorial Garden to the Fairelands Quest, the Literary Festival, Performance Stages, from Art Galleries to the Worldling Collection. These bring the Fairelands count for 2020 to eighteen regions, just waiting for you to explore them.  The SLurl to the event will be found on the website once the event opens; I’ll update with the SLurl direct to Tylar’s booth in the description below once the fair opens, since the lands are kept secret till then. Angel of the Morning

I’m not particularly into angels.  Yes I love wings, but even in my fae days (yes, once upon a time many years ago, I played as an elvish-fae hybrid) when I wore wings every day, I never wore angel wings. In fact, when given a choice between being an angel or a devil, I’d have to say I just about always go for the dark side.  But not this time.  Somehow this angel outfit just didn’t hit me as all that angelic, if you get my drift… in fact, it almost seems a bit devilish in that it just exudes temptation.  I found it to be rather inspiring, so much so that rather than just do it the easy way and shoot myself flying or hovering against a cloudy background, I decided to make it much harder, and build a small cloud “set”.   It reminded me of a lesson I’d forgotten of late… I have so much more fun when I do it the hard way, going a bit overboard and doing much more than is necessary in order to approximate the image that’s in my brain…  Well, time to hang up my wings and leave my seat in the clouds…  Happy shopping! Love My Planet

Unless you have a heart of stone, I’m sure you’ve felt the impact of the tragedy of the fires in Australia.  Obviously, those of us who live halfway across the planet can’t possibly understand the full impact and the devastation.  But if you love this planet — and I surely hope you do — then you’ve felt SOMETHING.  Me, I’ve adored koala bears and everything Australian since I was a little girl and assigned Australia for my “independent study and presentation”.  I still remember the poster board I created with cut-outs and descriptions of koala bears, platypus, kangaroos, and dingos… I still have a collection of dozens of koala bears of all types.  So for me, the opportunity to help raise awareness (!!!) and much-needed funds was a no-brainer, and I jumped at the chance to incorporate it into my blogging.  I hope you’ll take the time to check out both events I’m blogging today… happy shopping!

Blogging adult home decor items can be tricky when both your blog and your FlickR account are rated safe.  Generally I opt for the pure “no avatar” route (which also opens up some additional home decor groups in FlickR that require no avatars in the shot), but in some instances, I really feel that it takes the “human” touch to make a scene come alive.  And yes, although all of the animated items in this set are adult in nature, several did have non-sexual animations, but I felt those went too far the other way, deep into PG territory.   For the purposes of creating the right mood without crossing any lines, I therefore opted for a somewhat controversial route… using a separate pose.  For me, it works, intimating that it’s an adult set-up without going into actually showing anything adult.  If I crossed another line and did another no-no, well, so be it.  I like it, I hope you like it, and I hope my sponsors like it.  Other than that, all I can do is say “Happy shopping!”

I am constantly amazed by the talent of designers in Second Life.  The combination of creativity and attention to detail can just blow me away.  This set of gachas (is that even the right terminology??? or spelling??? I’m certainly no gacha expert lol!) is a perfect example… I love each and every item, just sooooo adorable.  Adding one, two, or even all to your holiday decor is that perfect element of fun! Personally, I think it’s perfect that it’s a gatcha, cuz I could never choose which one(s) to get!!!

In these last few weeks before the holidays when stress starts to build over finding last minute gifts, dealing with parties, or — for me — delayed orders, dying computers, and a nagging sore throat/cough, one of the more calming visions is just relaxing by the fire, doing nothing at all but being.  Sighs… if only it was possible in real life as easily as it is here.  But at least I can have it here, whenever I need it (and boy, am I needing it!!!!)  Just need to recharge my batteries, as it were, to finish up that holiday/birthday shopping and end the year on a high note… happy shopping to all!

Yes, I’m a resister when it comes to holiday “stuff”, I feel that the holiday season shouldn’t officially start until Thanksgiving. But the fact is Thanksgiving is just a few short days away (eeek!!!), the shopping season has already begun in earnest, and when you see something spectacular, you just need to say something.  AND THIS IS THAT SOMETHING!!!!

If you’re looking for something that epitomizes the fun and joy of the holidays and just makes you smile, you need to check this out.  Santa can fly around your property or sit there looking good until you say “FLY”, because he has a programmable flight menu.  Prefer to be in the sleigh yourself? I don’t understand why everyone is always so anxious to move onto the next thing. It happened with Halloween. And now it’s starting to happen with the holidays. I’m beginning to see holiday items and winter and snow and all that already — SNOW! I mean, c’mon folks, I know it’s coming, but can’t we just sit a bit and enjoy this last little bit of autumn sunshine and color before we rush off into the bitter cold of winter? I mean, sure, snow and winter is beautiful here on the grid. My whole estate turns on winter on Dec 1st, and I’ll be bagging all the autumn leaves till next year, and happily pulling out all the holiday decor.  And it’s not like my lips actually get all chapped and I feel my bones freezing like in RL. But let’s not rush things, shall we? Let’s just take another week or two to sit in the autumn sunshine (when it’s there), bravely facing that bite in the air (it’s definitely more than a nip this year), and THEN move into winter.  Hmmm, the more I think about it, it’s beginning to feel like winter already… maybe I’m actually starting to fall behind the times? Well, I’ll think about that as I sip my coffee and enjoy this little stretch of milder weather that we have today…  In the meantime, happy shopping!
